March 12, DA Promise Eleven: “Honesty, And A Rich Life Filled With Meaning, And Purpose”

Thought for today:

A member shares about what life was like before DA:

“I had a problem with the truth. I would lie on credit applications to borrow money, I would lie to family members about how serious the money situation was. Little did they all know how desperate I felt inside every waking minute.

“I thought I was sparing my family needless suffering, but they in fact had a right to know, and even had a vague sense something was wrong.

“Then the car was repossessed. I got angry, claiming it was a big mistake. It got to a point where I believed my own bravado and lies.

“That kind of desperation seems so foreign to me today. Thank God DA taught me how to let go of my denial and live in reality.”

DA Promise Eleven: “Honesty will guide our actions toward a rich life filled with meaning and purpose.”

A life rich in meaning and purpose is ours when we live the DA program.  If we knew in advance how much peace would come from DA we wouldn’t have fought coming here for so long.

It all starts with inner honesty.  We start going to meetings, we admit we are powerless over debt in Step One – these small beginnings help us stop playing the lying game, and we begin to see rewards.  Self-confidence returns, and we no longer run from people.

Am I honest today?

Meditation for today:

As we turn to God, we become free to live our lives in harmony with nature and with others. This attitude-shift makes all the difference. It’s really simple: “Trust God, clean house, and pass it on”. Let this moment thrive.

Affirmation for today:

I am free to be myself today. My workload is light. I am letting go of unnecessary worry and anxiety and I am finding peace.

Prayer for today:

I pray for the self-honesty that roots out denial and loves reality.
