March 13, DA Promise Twelve: A Higher-Powered Existence

Thought for today:

Many of us lost our faith during our debting days.  Where was God, if not in our overspending, or in the rush of the quick-fix payday loan?

That old illusion and euphoria of a spending binge was not God, but for a moment it felt like it was.  It quickly faded, and left us worse off and in despair.

Now, turning away from debt, we are faced with the daily choice whether to believe in a power of healing love, or possibly slip back into that old oblivion.  It isn’t always an easy choice.

DA Promise # 12: “We will recognize a Power greater than ourselves as the source of our abundance. We will ask for help and guidance and have faith that they will come.”

We need each other in DA. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.  We help ground each other in the storms of the real world. We find understanding here.  And, somehow, that understanding leads us to a better connection with our Higher Power.

When we’re on our Higher Power’s frequency, all things are possible.  Yes, we can find strength in the Power that brought us together.  We can see the real evidence of a Higher Power in DA.

Do I believe that this Higher Power just might do a better job with my life than I did when I was on my own?

Meditation for today:

Trust is earned, even trust in our Higher Power.  As we look for evidence to believe, we will find it in the love and understanding around us at meetings.  Seeing love’s healing power in others over time is all the evidence many people need to make a fresh start.

Every day can begin with a moment of gratitude for this new connection back to life.

Affirmation for today:

I trust the healing that is taking place in my life.  I trust that my Higher Power will help me sort out my life.

Prayer for today:

I pray for an open mind to accept the love that is being offered to me this moment.
