March 17, Helping Others Find Hope

Thought for today:

When we help others, it’s like insurance against a future slip. The time we spend talking to a member who calls us in a panic about preparing their spending plan, exploring options, is well spent. It heals us.

If someone needs to make a difficult phone call to a creditor, we can bookend with them before and after taking that difficult action.

The peace and understanding that we get are priceless!  What a blessing that we have each other!

Do I help other DA members get through tough times?  Do I reach out to them when I am in need as well?

Meditation for today:

When a person gets too absorbed in their own problems, solutions are elusive.  It’s only when we get out of ourselves, and engage in the healing circuit of helping others, reaching out to others, that we find serenity.

The Higher Power works through us to help others, and teaches us along the way.  We are transformed by this process.

Affirmations for today:

“As I give to the world, so the world will give to me.”

I offer limitless love, kindness and mercy, and I accept an abundance of the same in return.

Prayer for today:

I pray that I always reach out my hand to help a fellow DA Member in need. As long as they are willing and teachable, my time is well invested, and, I pray, Higher Power teaches me along the way.

Another book to help understand the relationships with those closest to you, and to  improve effectiveness as a communicator is The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey:
