Recovery

This is the basic text of the fellowship Alcoholics Anonymous. The fourth edition includes twenty-four new stories that provide contemporary sharing for newcomers seeking recovery from alcoholism in A.A. during the early years of the 21st century. Sixteen stories are retained from the third edition, including the “Pioneers of A.A.” section, which helps the reader remain linked to A.A.’s historic roots, and shows how early members applied this simple but profound program that helps alcoholics get sober today.
Originally published in 1952, Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions is the classic book used by AA members and groups around the world. It lays out the principles by which AA members recover and by which the fellowship functions. The basic text clarifies the Steps which constitute the AA way of life and the Traditions, by which AA maintains its unity.
Millions of consumers have become trapped in a spiral of debt, but there is hope. If you wants to free yourself from the shackles of debt, this book is for you–it can help you “get out of debt, stay out of debt, and live prosperously.” Jerrold Mundis writes in a friendly, engaging style, urging readers to stop the cycle of spending. Mundis knows what he’s talking about–he, too, was once thousands of dollars in debt and didn’t know where to turn. Anecdotes from Debtors Anonymous folks, plus multiple examples from the writer’s own life and ledgers, make How to Get Out of Debt an encouraging read, not a condescending one. Once you start your program, you may want to periodically reread some chapters for inspiration–and fun.

Meditation

Author of “Go In and In,” “One Soul,” and “Prayers to the Infinite,” Danna Faulds writes about her latest book of poetry: “More and more these days my old orientation is falling away. Rule books and signposts that were helpful in the past don’t offer much guidance in this new landscape. The poetry and prose in “From Root to Bloom” is my attempt to describe the unfolding journey of my last two years, both light and shadow.”
Philosopher-poet and cancer survivor, Mark Nepo opens a new season of freedom and joy–an escape from deadening, asleep-at-the wheel sameness–that is both profound and clarifying. His spiritual daybook is a summons to reclaim aliveness, liberate the self, take each day one at a time, and to savor the beauty offered by life’s unfolding. Reading his poetic prose is like being given second sight, exposing the reader to life’s multiple dimensions, each one drawn with awe and affection. The Book of Awakening is the result of his journey of the soul and will inspire others to embark on their own. Nepo speaks of spirit and friendship, urging readers to stay vital and in love with this life, no matter the hardships. Encompassing many traditions and voices, Nepo’s words offer insight on pain, wonder, and love. Each entry is accompanied by an exercise that will surprise and delight the reader in its mind-waking ability.

* The term “Solvency”, for the purpose of this website, is the state of being where we decide, one day at a time, to no longer incur new, unsecured debt. It does not mean necessarily that we are debt-free, only that we are living within our means, and have a spending plan that keeps us from dipping into unsecured credit.
