Am I Entirely Ready?

Thought for today:

Some call step six “the desert”, and for good reason. The way can be blurred by pride and fear. What happens to us in a world without our favorite defects of character? What if I surrender everything to God – the good and the bad – to do with as He will? Is anything left of me? We struggle with the idea of living according to God’s will. We can go round in circles.

Step six: Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of Character.

What am I still holding on to? Do I have anywhere else to turn? Am I blocking my light?

Meditation for Today:

As I surrender myself, let go of my pride, and trust the process of steps four through nine, I get better. The fact that I don’t see it happening doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. We are often the last to notice the change in our lives.

Affirmation for Today:

With each choice to let go I become better than before.

Prayer for Today:

Lord, I realize that sometimes I am the problem. Make me willing to grow along spiritual lines. Where else would I turn except closer to you?

The book Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions is the definitive guide to all the Steps and Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous.  It brings an in-depth understanding of why and how the program of recovery evolved, and how it works to this day, over sixty years after it was first published.

DA adapted the short form of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions almost word for word (with AA’s permission) and to this day DA recommends we read AA literature, (including the “Twelve and Twelve“) as a way for us to understand the disease concept.
