DA is better off when it’s members don’t identify themselves as members in the media. Members are better, off too, when they participate anonymously as far as the media is concerned. If one member went public with their membership and later became embroiled in a public financial conflict, it could reflect negatively on DA. But when we work the fellowship in humility, with egos kept at bay, the rewards of a continuing fellowship are great. This does not mean that members can’t educate the public about DA. It’s just that those members who do educate the public must also remain anonymous, emphasizing the message, and not the messenger.
Tradition 12. “Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.”
And my willing to forgo personal recognition at the public level, for the good of DA?
Meditation for today:
Humility is something to be sought after, like a precious metal. Mine the mountain of your ego to find humility, and you will find peace, more precious than gold.
Affirmation for today:
I have all the recognition I need in order to be the person I want to be.
Prayer for today:
I pray for the willingness to do the right thing, even if it takes some time and effort.
