Thought for today:
Do you eve stop and think about what the soundtrack of your life sounds like? Is it classical/ instrumental, mild/ easy listening, metal/ angst, rap/ obscenity.
Music, in fact all art, expresses the truth of a particular moment, and that gives it a power all its own. Our internal “theme song”, whether we know it or not, can either help us build up or tear down, look to the horizon or curl up in a ball.
What truth does your personal soundtrack express to you today?
DA Promise Ten: “We will no longer fear the truth; we will move from hiding in denial to living in reality.”
When we were in denial about our money we often declared ourselves victims, and minimized our role in our own financial situation. We justified overspending, under earning and charging, claiming we deserved it, or that it was “too good a deal to pass up”.
When our charge accounts caught up to us we were often too terrified to even open the mail or answer the phone. That is how paralyzed by denial we had become.
Have I accepted the truth about myself – that I am a compulsive spender, debtor, or under earner, and that left to my own devices I will debt again? Am I accepting a new soundtrack into my life?
Meditation for today:
“What is truth?” That is the age-old question, and the answer is found by practicing humility:
- Humility is knowing that we need a Higher Power, and that we ourselves are not God.
- Even the pretense of humility can help us – we can “fake it till we make it”.
- Even if we feign interest in our fellows, and make-believe that we care about their feelings and their lives, the end result can be a warmer, more democratic meeting of the minds, a consensus of what “the truth” is.
As we come together with honesty about ourselves,we discover that we were meant to fellowship in the Divine Light.
Affirmation for today:
I’m not afraid to be honest with myself. Today I will accept my part in my own life. I will use my Higher Power to reconcile with my fellow humankind.
Prayer for today:
I pray to accept the truth that my Higher Power brings to my attention each day, so that I acquire the habit of self-honesty.
