Thought for today:
How often we made decisions based on the needs of others, instead of ourselves! While this can be an admirable quality when done thoughtfully and with right motives, we took it to an extreme.
We usually felt unworthy, like strangers in a strange land where other people were allowed to act in their self-interest, not us. While others lived in freedom, we were supposed to live in a fog around money and time.
It never even occurred to us to – in an act of self-love or self-care – place our needs first. We considered everyone else – employer, parent, child, spouse, creditor – even strangers – to be more important than us.
And then, the compulsion to act out would grip us all the more. But our Higher Power doesn’t want that for us!
DA Promise Two: “Clarity will replace vagueness. Confidence and intuition will replace confusion and chaos. We will live engaged lives, make decisions that best meet our needs, and become the people we were meant to be.”
A member describes how this promise unfolded in them:
“DA allowed me to be clear for the first time in my adult life – and not just about money. After a while I started to use the brain God gave me to reason things out – slowly at first – but it eventually dawned on me that my life was not a movie, and I was not merely a spectator!
“My actions had real consequences, and I could consider those consequences before I made a decision. Today I live my life (no-one else’s) and I live it to the fullest!”
Putting our needs first requires a change of direction, and a willingness to stop and consider alternatives. Rash judgments, half-baked ideas, and obsessive thoughts must give way to well thought out living, healthy attitudes about resources, and a hopeful outlook.
Am I willing to stop for a moment and include what my Higher Power wants for me today? Did I ever considered that it might be abundance?
Meditation for today:
Just when we think that nothing is changing, great transitions take place. It is said that all of life is lived forward, but understood backward. Therefore, be at peace, my soul! Do you work for the moment, and the moments head up to amazing changes!
Affirmation for today:
In stillness, ultimate truth emerges. As I detach from insanity, sanity returns. As I seek humble spirituality, answers blossom.
Prayer for today:
I pray that as I still my soul, and include my Higher Power in my decisions, new ways of dealing with my problems emerge.
