March 2, DA Promise One: Despair Over Debt Will Fade

Thought for today:

We turn now to the DA promises.  It is said that pain is inevitable; suffering, optional. We who despaired over debt and have found DA can relate.

There was no escape from our despair. It came right after the creditors called us at dinner time.  We feared opening the mail. Life became joyless and we were boxed into a corner.

How could we deserve happiness if we were such “bad people” as to rack up such painful debt?  How scary life became when we felt we had nowhere to turn!

DA Promise One: “Where once we felt despair, we will experience a newfound hope.”

In DA we learn that chronic debt is not a life sentence. Our debt does not define who we can be; it is just a fact of our finances today.

Put into perspective, our finances will get better over time. When we put our needs first, we will start to recall that our life has value.

Positive self worth and self esteem will return regardless of our financial situation when we address our need for order about money, and replace our chaotic thinking with the wisdom of DA.

Am I giving the program of recovery a chance today?

Meditation for today:

Cause for hope exists everywhere. God wants us to revel in hope and love. When we detach from misery, and the extremes of overspending, and under earning, we find room for hope to enter into our lives. We fan the flames of hope if we praise God for the program and work toward solvency.

Affirmation for today:

I have enough money to take care of all my needs today. If I have to say “no” to someone today in order for my needs to be met, I will bookend with someone positive, and take time to be kind. I will process my feelings and learn from each event in my path to recovery.

Prayer for today:

I pray for the willingness to trust God and DA to begin to transform my life. I pray that hope increases as I allow the program of DA to take hold.
