“Happiness Is a By-Product of A Life Well Lived”

Thought for today:

What makes us happy?  Is it external or internal to us?  Where does it come from?  Can we hold on to it?  Or is it elusive?  What is happiness – a feeling?  A decision?

“Happiness is a byproduct of a life well-lived,” an old-timer shared.

Members share:

“When I immerse myself in gratitude, finding things to be grateful for, that I am happy.  When I exercise, I am happy.  When I mediate about this moment, I find peace and am happy.”

“I find happiness when I recharge.  If I am on silent retreat, in a walk in the woods or on the beach, I am happy.”

“When I challenge myself to learn something new, I can find happiness in using what I have learned.”

“When I am ‘in the zone’ doing using my talents to the fullest, I am extremely happy.”

 What is happiness?

Each of us has talents that can take us to a transcendent place.  Some call it “Flow“.  Others call it “Creative Genius“.  In each case, we find ourselves through challenge and through attitude adjustment.

We learn from stepping aside, and letting this “Higher Power” enter and transform.  This is both discipline and joy.

Ask:

What makes me happy?

Mediation for today:

We find happiness when our attention moves from our daily existence and we enter into that “other place” where fulfillment and love exist.  It is then that the routine becomes the extraordinary.

Affirmation for today:

“Today I will learn something new that brings me happiness”
