Thought for today:
An honest look at our past improves our future. The Steps help us get honest with ourselves, and that honesty allows us to turn the past to good benefit. The history of our debting becomes immensely valuable.
A member shares:
“The AA Big Book says, ‘We will not regret the past, nor wish to shut the door on it.’* When I heard that, I used to think, ‘How could that be?
“My mistakes with money are among the worst things I’ve done. I suffered, and my family would be better off if it weren’t for my compulsion to debt. I just want to forget about it and move on.
“Then I realized the power in my shares. Because I am a ‘low-bottom’ debtor, I have a lot of strength to offer newcomers. I have been through tough negotiations with creditors and courts, and I even sued a credit card company and won!
“I double-dipped in DA, taking a sabbatical that added $100K more debt. So I know this insidious disease well.
“My recovery is dedicated to DA.”
Here are some ways that a debting past becomes our greatest asset for solvency:
- We learn from past debting to find the triggers that led us to debt in the first place, and not repeat it in the future.
- We share our experience with others so they can identify with the feelings and help in their recovery.
- When we tell our story, the arch of our debt-to-solvency affirms that the DA program works, and can inspire others to consider our simple program.
- Our debting history also becomes an asset when we use it as a catalyst for change.
- Each time we tell our story we take out a little more insurance out against a future slip back into debting.
With DA, we turn negatives into positives every day.
Ask:
Have I learned to put my experience with debt to good use?
Meditation for today:
In times of turmoil the thing that gets you through is faith. There is nothing stronger than faith. With it you can overcome all obstacles.
“Fake it till you make it.” Soon, new habits will bring solvency.
Trust that all the answers you need will become known to you. Keep moving forward, knowing the path is revealed.
Your intuition is from Higher Power, and leads you to triumph.
Affirmation for today:
“Peace is leading me to abundance in every area of my life.”
“The miracle of my solvency is useful to others – and inspires me to continue.”
