The One Change That Makes All The Difference (With Step 3)

Thought for today:

By the time we’ve come to Step 3, we have started to feel an awareness of a Power greater than us that we can tap into.  We find ourselves drawn to this Power for guidance and inspiration.

DA Step 3

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God.

A member shares:

“I was agnostic when I came into DA, and my ideas of a Higher Power are not typical.  I believe in evolution, and the power of love.”

Drawing on that power

Each person’s concept of a Higher Power are purely personal.  The only reason we stress it is that we will need to have some idea of where we are getting our strength.

Ask:

“Have I decided to turn my will over to a sane way of life?”

Meditation for today:

We are at our best when we stay open to inspiration.  If we remind ourselves that we don’t have all the answers, and stay teachable, we find real happiness.  If we add to that a gratitude list of ten things we are grateful for – people first – we will feel peace.  We are always better off if we look at our reactions to the world, and try to re-center our thoughts on gratitude when we are off course.

Affirmation for today:

“Just for this day, I will remember that there are infinite sources of help available to me.  I do not have to be alone.  I will reach out to another DA member and find hope and encouragement for my situation, even if it seems hopeless to me right now.” *
