Thought for today:
The world of money is full of salespeople, who, for a fee, promote their investment plans. DA chooses not to compete.
DA has no opinion on outside issues. The fellowship’s only concern is helping the compulsive debtor stop debting. The set of Tools and Steps are freely given to help anyone who needs them achieve DA solvency.
The tendency to forget the past leads debtors to repeat the past, so for debtors serious about recovery, working the program is a simple choice.
DA Tradition Six:
“A D.A. group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the D.A. name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property, and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.”
No “DA Brand” pitches:
DA is compulsive debtors helping other compulsive debtors. There is no profit motive.
Current members stay solvent by passing on what they learned from members who came before them, helping still others stay solvent. That is how DA can get by without selling anything (with the exception books and literature).
For example, there is no “DA brand” method for doing your numbers. You can use paper and pencil, smart phone app, computer, slide rule, abacus – whatever.
There is no “DA brand” debt-consolidation company. DA does not partner with banks or loan companies to get people out of debt. They have no credit reporting arm. DA does not endorse lawyers, accountants, investments, or creditors.
By letting go of all other money-related endeavors, DA is able to focus on the thing it does best: helping the compulsive debtor develop an attitude of solvency that helps them stay solvent and improve their lives.
People new to DA can rest reassured about what DA is and is not. Any person willing to work DA can get help with their compulsion to debt for free. No strings attached!
Do I let DA work at what it does best?
Meditation for today:
There is no such thing as “true multitasking”. We can only focus on one thing at a time. Processing this one thought brings us closer to Universal thought.
Affirmations for today:
“Today I will focus on one thing at a time.”
“I am not pestered by worry and self-doubt.”
“I focus on my primary purpose.”
